Choreographer Spotlight Meet COLLIDE guest choreographer, Joshua Peugh! PEUGH is the Founder and Artistic Director of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance and Co-founder of Fair Assembly. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, he has created work for festivals in Asia, Europe, and North America, winning awa...rds for his choreography in South Korea, Japan, Canada, and the USA. He was the recipient of the Grand Prize at the McCallum Theatre's 18th Annual Choreography Festival and was chosen as one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch." Joshua served as choreographer for legendary soprano Kathleen Battle’s concert Underground Railroad - A Spiritual Journey and was the 2018 recipient of the Natalie Skelton Award for Artistic Excellence. He has created over 40 new works for BalletX, Ballet Memphis, The Big Muddy Dance Company, BODYTRAFFIC, Bruce Wood Dance Project, Company E, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Dance Lab NY, DanceWorks Chicago, Eisenhower Dance, Korea National Contemporary Dance Company, MADCO, METdance, Tulsa Ballet, WaterTower Theatre, and Whim W'Him, among others. . Prince Lyons is a professional freelance performing artist and creative from St. Louis, MO. Prince began his dance journey at Best Dance and Talent Center under Judy Best-Person's direction and went on to receive his BFA from Webster University's Department of Dance Cum Laude with an emphasis o...n ballet. Prince has danced for Kambré Contemporary Dance, Visceral Dance Chicago, The Cambrians, Owen/Cox Dance Group, and Rambert II. Over the course of his performance career, Prince has performed works by Diane McIntyre, Kevin O'Day, Robyn Mineko-Williams, Benoit Swan-Pouffer, Jermaine Spivey, Ohad Naharin, Sidi Larbi, and Damien Jalet. . Besides his more independent choreographic endeavors, Prince has choreographed on Visceral Dance Chicago, The Big Muddy Dance Company, and is the 2018-2019 winner of Western Michigan University’s Department of Dance National Choreography Competition and the Co-Founder of The K/P Project coming to St. Louis Summer 2021! We are thrilled to announce our 2021 Marquis Award recipient, Alicia Sunshine Depry-Gbaho . The third annual Marquis Award recognizes a St. Louis Dance Educator for their perseverance in dance through creativity in the face of adversity. We received many impressive submissions, and we are grateful to part of a community with so many talented and dedicated dance educators. Alicia Sunshine began her dance career at the Katherine Dunham dance center in East St. Louis, IL while later evolving professionally & technically at Illinois State University. Performing at local and national venues has allowed her to touch lives through movement and art. With a B. S. in Mass Communication, Minor in Dance she furthered her passions through obtaining certifications through, NASM, AFFAA and ABT.
