Postponed due to COVID-19. Watch the EVENT PAGE for details. Blue River Watershed Association's Rain Barrel Reign! program will introduce community participants to concepts such as watersheds, stormwater runoff, chemical pollution, and how human behavior impacts local streams and rivers. Participants will build rain barrels to install at their home to reduce their impact of these issues on local waterways, while improving water quality. Project Rain Barrel is a collaboration between River Network, The Coca-Cola Company, and the Blue River Watershed Association (BRWA). Reserve your spot today at www.brwa.net/events

Date & Time: TBA Get out of the house and join BRWA for the Rain Barrel Reign program. Each participant will receive one (1) 35-55-gallon rain-barrel (donated from a local Coca-Cola bottler or distributor) and one (1) RainRecycle kit (hardware and tools). Each RainRecycle kit includes all the hardware needed to construct a fully functioning rain barrel except a base. Each kit includes a set of hole saws for drilling into the barrel and downspout, a spigot, a downspout diverter, flexible connection tube, rubber seals, and a non-potable water sticker. The kit eliminates the need for an overflow outlet and creates a closed system which prevents mosquitoes from breeding inside the barrel.
Blue River Watershed Association (BRWA), and Metropolitan Community College Maple Woods, brings K.I.D.S. in Streams (Kids Investigate, Discover, and Study in Streams) to middle, high, and college level students. These K.I.D.S. in Streams participants, and project partners, are trained in BRWA’s trademark program, T.R.U.E. Blue (Teaching Rivers in an Urban Environment) a 4-Day, 4- Lesson water quality-monitoring curriculum. Teacher Cadets and college students lead portions,... or all of T.R.U.E. Blue to middle school students. T.R.U.E. Blue is a watershed literacy, water quality monitoring curriculum targeting students in 6th grade and up. * K.I.D.S. in Streams and T.R.U.E Blue are Serviced Marked (SM) protected program. https://www.brwa.net/education/kids-in-streams.html
