Due to the drought situation we are experiencing, now is the time to no-till winter annuals. Fall rains will be here soon. You can extend your grazing time frame into late November and can begin grazing these crops again in late February or early March. On average, this should save you 2 to 3 round bales of hay per acre, or more, during the winter. Therefore, no-tilling these winter annuals will have paid for itself. Also, you'll be able to cut this for hay next spring. This can not only save you at least 2 to 3 round bales per acre, but can also increase your yields in the spring.
