Public Works has continued to work through the overnight hours treating the roads. Sleet has been the main precipitation but snow is anticipated soon. If you must be out, be careful as roads can be slick in areas. Happy New Year!

With just a week out from Christmas Eve we were thrilled to see that Santa had time to send this special message to Grain Valley. He made sure to tell us that he read each and every one of your letters and he can't wait to hop on his sleigh and come our way!
Here is the latest update from the National Weather Service.

Kids-Make sure to drop off your letters to Santa in Grain Valley's special North Pole mailbox by the end of this weekend (12/6) to ensure Santa has time to write you back before Christmas! Labels are available at the mailbox if needed: -Return address -Child's Name... -Desired Gift If you have already dropped your letter off and didn't include ANY of the above information, email [email protected] so the elves can relay the information to Santa.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the pouring of concrete at the Sni-A-Bar traffic circle has been delayed until tomorrow (12/10) between approximately 9AM-1PM.
Last Call! Today is the FINAL day to take the survey regarding the municipal complex ballot initiative. The Board of Aldermen understands that the project, as presented, was not favored by the voters and survey results will be one of the items considered as decisions are made for addressing needs in the future. Take the survey here: http://bit.do/GV2020Survey
Board of Aldermen candidate filing begins tomorrow at 8AM. A record will be kept of the dates in which candidates file and candidates will be placed on the ballot in that order. More details can be found here: http://ow.ly/AKP350CKSbI
It's that time of year again. We are getting reports of vehicles that were left running being stolen in driveways and parking lots. Let's all work together to ...reduce these crimes of opportunity in Independence. Please remind your family and friends. Of course we want to catch who is stealing cars. Please call 911 to report anyone prowling parking lots and neighborhoods.
The region is ramping up COVID-19 testing. Grandview will host a testing site tomorrow, and Independence is now offering evening testing as well. Jackson County... residents can register for any of these sites. Testing is free, you don't have to have symptoms, and the results are back usually 3 days.
