You never know what will show up at KGLY. This L39 stopped for fuel last week and was the center of attention for everyone on the field. This jet trainer was made in Czechoslovakia. It was used by several eastern block nations. The Albatros is a popular warbirds for civilian collectors here in the US with over 200 on the FAA roles. We have been busy this fall with several corporate aircraft arriving to visit Henry county. Local pilots and student pilots have been taking advantage of the good weather to travel and train.
A T6 and a Beech 99 in formation low pass.
Traffic is picking up at GLY. This Falcon 50 stopped in the other day. The king Air stayed three days while its passenger enjoyed our area. Two twin turbines stopped for fuel this week and several light planes stopped here for a visit.
Local flight instructor Dennis Walrath looking happy after a T6 ride with Jeff Shetterly. It was a fun Sunday at Clinton Regional and GliderSports. Parachute jumps, T6 formation flights, a few loops and rolls thrown in. Even a T6/ Beech 99 fly by!
Some of the action at GLY this week.
Bob Stayton stopped by our airport today for a visit. He was involved in the planning and building of the Clinton airport back in the mid 1960’s. We are fortunate to have had forward thinking citizens that were willing to get involved and help establish a great asset for our community. Federal and state funding provided at least 90 percent of the land acquisition and construction cost. Through the years thousand of hours of volunteer labor and management have been provided by local pilots and other community minded individuals to keep our airport a safe and inviting place for the traveling public. The current Clinton Airport Association Board continues to work hard to manage the wonderful facility we have while helping the city plan the future of KGLY. Thanks to all who helped establish and manage our airport through the years.
Bob Stayton stopped for a visit today. Bob was involved in the planning and building of our airport in the mid 1960’s. He and a few other forward thinking citizens started us on the path to the wonderful facility that we now enjoy. With more than 90 percent of the land purchase and construction cost paid for by the federal and state government through the years, we still need local citizens and government to recognize the opportunity and garner support from the non aviation community. Many thousands of volunteer hours have been spent managing Clinton Regional Airport through the years. The Clinton Airport Association Board continues this tradition of community service. Thanks to many who have come before us , we have an airport to be proud of.
Clinton Regional is operating and serving the flying public whether it is a small private jet that stops for fuel or a medical transport plane helping one of our citizens. We will keep our facility open while taking precautions appropriate to the current situation.
GliderSports has acquired a Beech 99 for use in their parachute operation.
These gentleman used Clinton regional airport as their launch pad to a great outing. Maybe you can guess by their outfits where they went.?.? One of the great things about working at our airport is I get to see people having a good time.
Happy New Year! May yours days be filled with health, happiness, and time to fly!
Two helicopters stopped in for fuel at GLY the other day. It is great to see dedicated young people serving our country.
