Clinton Regional Airport 09.12.2020

You never know what will show up at KGLY. This L39 stopped for fuel last week and was the center of attention for everyone on the field. This jet trainer was made in Czechoslovakia. It was used by several eastern block nations. The Albatros is a popular warbirds for civilian collectors here in the US with over 200 on the FAA roles. We have been busy this fall with several corporate aircraft arriving to visit Henry county. Local pilots and student pilots have been taking advantage of the good weather to travel and train.

Bob Stayton stopped by our airport today for a visit. He was involved in the planning and building of the Clinton airport back in the mid 1960’s. We are fortunate to have had forward thinking citizens that were willing to get involved and help establish a great asset for our community. Federal and state funding provided at least 90 percent of the land acquisition and construction cost. Through the years thousand of hours of volunteer labor and management have been provided by local pilots and other community minded individuals to keep our airport a safe and inviting place for the traveling public. The current Clinton Airport Association Board continues to work hard to manage the wonderful facility we have while helping the city plan the future of KGLY. Thanks to all who helped establish and manage our airport through the years.

Bob Stayton stopped for a visit today. Bob was involved in the planning and building of our airport in the mid 1960’s. He and a few other forward thinking citizens started us on the path to the wonderful facility that we now enjoy. With more than 90 percent of the land purchase and construction cost paid for by the federal and state government through the years, we still need local citizens and government to recognize the opportunity and garner support from the non aviation community. Many thousands of volunteer hours have been spent managing Clinton Regional Airport through the years. The Clinton Airport Association Board continues this tradition of community service. Thanks to many who have come before us , we have an airport to be proud of.
