Hi! We are ice bound/snow bound/home bound! It is just too slick and cold to open the store. We hope you can also stay safe until this cycle of extreme cold and icy conditions is gone. Our heat went out at the house last Saturday and I need to stay home to keep the wood stove going until the repairman can make it out our way today or tomorrow. If you need me, give me a call at 816-547-4533. I was told F Highway is very icy so it may take me a while to get there!

"Just because you can do it, does not always make it a good idea." Which means that just because we can drive in to open the store today, does not mean it is a good idea. After all my students sensibly cancelled today, we realized that maybe we will wait for this storm to pass before we open up. This is an amazing photo to illustrate our saying! This photo is the shadow of stained glass taken on the Winter Solstice. The extreme angle of the sunlight vividly shows the ...cutting technique/strength used to cut this glass. This is what we call a "Poppa Bear" cut. Too much power was used. The annealed surface was destroyed which causes microfractures to radiate throughout the glass. Our cutting class will explain more of the techniques and knowledge to help you be a successful stained glass cutter. We will also demonstrate the reasons behind "Just because you can do it, does not make it a good idea!!" Have a good day! See more

This beautiful panel with amazing history came in for repair/remake. I especially was intrigued by the inscription. Through Ancestry dot Com we discovered wife was Christina. This was from a High German Church in Wisconsin. A friend told me this inscription is quite common in Germany. For me, it lets me know how far women’s rights had to come in the last hundred years! I am working on salvaging as much glass as possible and remaking the window smaller (without inscription ) for the customer. The inscription will hopefully go to another friend with the name of Kern to be used on another family window!

More of the floor is done. Not quite half. Takes us a little over 2 hours per block! But it sure looks different. This would have been the reception area and waiting room when this building was the doctor’s offices. I intend for this building and business to be memorable! What do you think? Is it worth it?

With everyone staying home and sorting their lives, many people have been able to finally bring in their broken stained glass for repairs. Isn’t this one magnificent! Created sometime between the late 1890’s to pre WW1. So glad we were able to help them preserve this piece!

Just drop in or call before you come so I can reserve some time to show you around and help with any of your glassy conundrums! By the way, her heart artwork is being displayed in our new combo hanging frame / stand. It is a fun way to display your art!

When I need to change the speed of my ceiling fan or turn on just the light, I have a poor record of guessing right the first time. So I made fan pulls!! These are just a few of the designs I am making. Do you have an idea for a fan pull? If so let me know and I will draw it up. We have these items and many more here at the store. Come by to see us soon!
