The National Museum of the US Army Opens in Ft. Belvoir FT. BELVOIRThe National Museum of the United States Army opens today on Veterans Day. EAI was involved with the development of nearly 45,000 sf of exhibit space that celebrates and honors the millions men and women who have served this country since the Army’s founding in 1775. As the oldest branch in the military, the U.S. Army has shaped and defended America for over 240 years. Spanning that time, every U.S. Army ...Soldier has had a story and their actions have illustrated the Army’s core values of Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. The museum sits on the grounds of Ft. Belvoir and is comprised of six galleries that showcase the breadth of the Army’s history from the Revolutionary War, through conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. A seventh gallery celebrates the synergy that exists between the Army and American Society. Stories are told through varying types of displays, including immersive experiences, interactives, and personal stories. More than one-thousand artifacts help to bring these events and stories to life. Eisterhold Associates congratulates the United States Army on the opening of their new museum, EAI Project Manager Sue Malik said. The Army has played a significant role in the history our nation and it has been our privilege to have been part of the amazing team that brought these Soldiers' Stories to life. As of Veterans Day, the Museum is open to the public with extra safety measures in place such as required free timed-entry tickets. All tickets must be reserved in advance online and a limit of 5 tickets per request. November is Native American Heritage Month. To honor this month we want to provide bit of history about its establishment: NAHM originated as a turn-of-the-century initiative to formally establish a day of recognition for Native American people’s. The initiative was organized by Dr. Arthur C. Parker (Seneca) who was the director of the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Rochester, NY. In 1915, the annual Congress of the American Indian Association meeting in Lawrence, KS formally a...pproved Dr. Parker’s plan. Yet, no federal adoption was proclaimed by then president Woodrow Wilson. 75 years after the initial effort to institute a national day of recognition for Native American people’s, then president George HW Bush approved the designation of November as Native American Heritage Month. However Dr. Parker never saw it come to fruition because he passed in 1955 at age 74. Throughout this month and everyday beyond this month celebrate and honor the rich and diverse cultures, languages, histories, traditions, and Human Rights battles of the Indigenous people of this land.
