In this trying year, it's especially important for us to focus on the positives in our lives. What a perfect time to reflect on all that we are grateful for, no matter how insignificant they may seem. We are extremely thankful for our patients and the opportunity to treat them with a medicine we are passionate about! Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, joyous and delicious Thanksgiving! #happythanksgiving #begrateful #thankyou #youareappreciated #toddlertookabiteoutofthepumpkinpieleaf #thankfulshedidnoteatthepie #silverliningalways #elementsacm #chinesemedicine #eastasianmedicine #acupuncture #acupunctureclinic #kcacupuncture #kansascity #autumn

Anyone else feeling the effects of candy, wine and/or possibly ice cream consumption from a long, stressful last week? Well, all of those things can cause dampness in your body and probably a little heat as well. One food you could incorporate into your diet to mitigate those effects is...... PUMPKIN!!! Seems appropriate with the Halloween connection, huh? Pumpkins are cooling in nature and relieve damp conditions, such as dysentery, eczema and edema. Coincidentall...y enough, it also helps to balance blood sugar! And that's not all, folks. If all that dampness has started to accumulate turning into phlegm in the throat, bronchi, or even lungs, pumpkin promotes the release of that mucus. Got intestinal worms? Cooked pumpkin can help with those too! Depicted is Kabocha, a type of Japanese pumpkin, that I grew in my pandemic garden this year. You can roast it, steam it, stir-fry it, and it's delicious in soups and curry. Pretty sure we could all use some pumpkin, post-dietary-blip support right now! Take good care of yourselves, friends! #kabocha #pumpkin #homegrown #covidtimes #pandemicgarden #eatwiththeseasons #thegoodkindoffoodtherapy #nutrition #healthyeating #wellness #eczema #edema #phlegm #mucus #regulatebloodsugar #intestinalworms #chinesemedicine #acupunctureclinic #kansascity #igkc #instakc #kcmo

A frozen fall, featuring leafsicles. Even though winter is looming upon us, autumn is still here! Fall is the season of the metal element and the Lung organ, which is associated with grief. And appropriately so, as it seems lately we've all experienced some sort of heartbreaking loss. Please know that we are sitting with you during this difficult time, also embracing the sadness and processing it as well. While it's not going to make the emotional pain go away, you can help ...support your lungs with deep breathing, gradually letting go by crying, and nourishing your diet through white foods. Some examples of white foods are as pear, apple, cauliflower, almonds, turnips, parsnips, pine nuts, white beans, jicama, water chestnuts, daikon radish, winter melon, lily bulb, lotus root, lotus seed, snow fungus, white mushroom, white fish, rice, oats, potatoes, onion and garlic. Wishing you all health, safety, peace and comfort as we trudge through this season and the remainder of this challenging year. #fall #autumn #frozenfoliage #leaves #icy #lungs #grief #sadness #oursympathies #seasons #eatwiththeseasons #whitefoods #deepbreathes #letgo #healing #wellness #chinesemedicine #acupuncture #kcacupuncture #kansascity #kcmo #igkansascity #igkc #instakc

"When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan. When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower. When parents lose their child, there isn’t a word to describe them." ~Ronald Reagan __________________ In honor of those who have lost a child, we are thinking of you and your beloved.

Happy Mid-Autumn Moon Festival! We hope you are enjoying moon cakes by the full moon light surrounded by loved ones. Wishing you all a bountiful harvest of illuminated blessings during a time when they are seemingly overshadowed by lunacy.

The signs of fall are amongst us! Now that Autumn Equinox has passed, we are seeing and feeling the effects of our transition into fall. As the temperatures fluctuate, this is a time when people often get sick, suffer from headaches or may even be experiencing digestive upset. According to Chinese medicine, the period between each season belongs to the spleen organ and represents the earth element. So before we are in throws of Autumn's metal dryness, be sure to listen to your body, rest if you are feeling fatigued, and eat yellow + orange foods that support your spleen, like pumpkins and squash. Stay healthy and nourished, friends!

Good morning and Happy Monday, everyone! Okay, yeah I know. No one is actually happy about Mondays, but here's something we ARE happy about! Lindsey Perkins, Dipl.O.M., L.Ac. has joined our practice, and we are excited to have her be a part of the Elements team! Lindsey is a friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable provider, who has a special interest in treating migraines, trauma and Women's Health issues. Outside of acupuncturing patients, she also enjoys running, being in nature and nerding out with a good book. Please give Lindsey a warm welcome, and we hope you all have a wonderful week ahead of you!

We will always feel indebted to those who have lost their lives for our country and freedom. A simple "Thank You" seems paltry in comparison to the sacrifices they have made. Tomorrow we commemorate, but forever we will honor you all! In recognition of Memorial Day, we will be closed on Monday. Hope everyone is enjoying the long, sunny weekend and continuing to stay safe! . .... . #memorialday #remember #pow #mia #american #flag #service #freedom #grateful #acupunctureclinic #kansascity See more

Happy Earth Day!!! This wondrous, diverse and beautiful planet we live on deserves to be cherished and protected by us all! This overflowing waterfall represents a powerful, broadened view of water. While in a much smaller form, these tiny water droplets merely rest upon a leaf. Alone the beads of water are mostly benign, but a nearly infinite amount of them collectively could have enormous effects. It's amazing how one microscopic virus has managed to impact the entire worl...d and change our perspective on life, humankind and the world. I am hopeful that this new awareness illuminates how we, as individuals, treat each other and our ONE AND ONLY Earth!
