2020. The year we didn’t see coming. I feel sometimes a huge need to smooth over its rough patches that taunted me with my worst fears. The bondage of a year that’s felt incredibly restricting. Claustrophobic. But in weeks like this one - quiet, rainy, routine - I press in. I sit with all the feelings. I examine them slowly. I give them all a seat at my table. I let them be.... Because I know when the sun comes again (as it always does), I’ll feel comfortable with it too. Settled. Grateful. Aware. Free. If this year has taught me one thing, it’s that they’re all welcome at my table. My light is always there, always on display. But even my darkness is welcome. It’s good for me to see it, acknowledge it and work to not shame it. So that when the time is right, healing can start. I’m not sure I’m quite ready to heal from all 2020 has thrown at me. But in time, sister. For now, we sit. * * *
