We’re excited to announce that we’ll be vending at the Opening Day for the S.O.L. Food Farmers Market this Wednesday in Maplewood from 3:30-6:30pm. We’ll be set up at 2808 Sutton Blvd in the Living Room / old Bolyard’s Meat & Provisions parking lot. Some of our favorite farmers will be there so be sure to come out and support all they do to tend to the land and provide us with nutritious food. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Our sweet pup Loki passed away very suddenly this morning. We’ll be taking the day to grieve and be at home, so the shop will be closed today. He was an absolute joy and loved us and those close to us tremendously. He was so intelligent, always ready for adventure, and had such a tender heart. We will miss him always.

We love filling bulk herb orders! Being a part of the process that connects people to medicinal plants is seriously such an honor. It’s also really neat to see which herbs our customers choose and which new plants they are drawn to each time. We know how much wisdom and healing each one offers and it’s exciting to think about all the herbs at our store spreading out across the St Louis area and beyond to do their powerful work. As some of you know, I've been supporting many of the local midwives and doulas in the greater St Louis region over the past year to help provide potent herbal remedies for their clients. Drawing from my experience with them and the time I spent as an assistant midwife, I've worked very diligently over the past several weeks and months to expand our pregnancy and postpartum line and I am so thrilled to start sharing it with you all. We have a whole series of postpartum emo...tional support formulas, more topical remedies such as a Nipple Salve and Perineal Spray, a morning sickness glycerite and a labor prep cordial, and I've revised many of our popular formulas to make sure they are pregnancy and breastfeeding safe (these are all marked with a PB for pregnancy and breastfeeding, for example Anxious Thoughts Be Gone! - PB). I'll be sharing more about each of them individually, but for now, check out how much this part of our shop has grown! The first photo is where we're at now, and the last photo is what our pregnancy and postpartum section looked like before we started filling the shelves that Luke hung this summer. This botanical babe will be holding down the herb shop while I'm out for recovery. Ashley Noack of @manna_apotheke is one of my dear friends and colleagues and I know you will just love her. We met at The Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism, graduating the same year to become Certified Clinical Herbalists together. She's a solid practitioner and will be able to answer your questions and attend to your herbal needs. Stop in the shop this week during our regular store hours to meet her and give her a big St. Louis welcome. You may also see Luke, my mom Pam, and our Feldenkrais Teacher Kelly helping out as well. I'm so grateful for everyone who has come alongside me during all this to keep the shop open and to put my mind at ease, knowing that my community will continue to be well cared for while I'm away.

March was Endometriosis Awareness Month. I had a lot of information prepared and a series of posts about this difficult condition all ready to go back at the end of last winter, but the pandemic hit and we had to quickly shift gears. I'll try again in 2021, but for now, I want to share something on the more personal side. I (very likely) have endometriosis. Why the very likely in parentheses? Because endometriosis can only be accurately diagnosed by laparoscopic surgery,... which I haven't had yet (though new, non-invasive diagnostic methods are currently being researched and tested). So, after a very long journey with excruciatingly painful periods, I will finally be having a diagnostic procedure as well as expert excision surgery of endometriosis (if they find any) this coming Monday. It's always challenging as a small business owner to know how much to divulge here, how vulnerable to be, how exposed to make oneself. I've gone back and forth on the decision about whether to be forthcoming about my surgery or not. But I know how incredibly important it is to share our stories with one another, probably now more than ever given everything we've all gone through this past year. I'm feeling a pretty wide mix of emotions as I approach my surgery day part excited, part anxious, part hopeful, part full of trust, part wanting to back out which I think is totally understandable given that I'm heading into a procedure with no idea of how extensive the disease is, how much tissue will need to be excised, what my recovery will be like, or if they will even find any endometriosis at all. Still, I know that this is the right decision for me and my body and that there is now a real possibility of finding relief, which makes the sitting with all that uncertainty a bit more bearable. I may be a little quiet here and slower to get back to comments and dms for the next little while as I take time to rest and recover and heal.
