Due to start calving around March 10th and should calve for 75 days. Selling at St. Joseph Stockyards on Monday December 16th. These cows are from several generations of selection and use of AI. The older cows are sim/angus. About half of the coming 3 y/o were purchased from Johnny Taylor of Grayson, Mo as weaned heifers. Some more info on the fall calvers selling at the St. Joseph Stockyards on 8/5. These cows have been time ai'd since 2003 (with the exception of 2017) and replacements were always kept. We crossed the angus cows to black simmental bulls from 2006-2009 and then went to using angus bulls up to the present matings. Some bulls used mostly in chronological order are Legacy G151 In Dew Time... Calves have been weaned around the first of May and marketed in June with an average weight on the steers through the years in excess of 700lbs. With the exception of 2018 and 2019 the calves were sold early because of feed and drought issues. We've never recieved any individual data on the cattle but have gotten great feedback from the feedlots that have fed our cattle. Including 100% choice and prime with very few YG 4 and 5 carcasses. Any other questions please let us know!

Many people have asked us why we are selling these fall calving cows. We are downsizing our commercial cowherd so we can concentrate on the Registered Angus herd. Gary started the purebred herd in 1983. We are pretty proud of the genetics we have to offer and after 30 years of selling bulls off the farm private treaty we are gearing up for our first ever private treaty bull sale this coming spring. More details to come.

I have been promoting our upcoming show, and have the opportunity to talk with thousands of people who live mostly in big cities. They are so conditioned to thi...nk that animals are abused. I have had numerous questions from people who honestly dont know about animal care. I have answered honestly and been thrilled to see how happy and receptive people are. They dont know what they dont know! They want to feel free to connect with animals. I have been asked (among many questions) 1. Why are you feeding the pony such dry stuff (hay) that isn't good for her. I explained grass is their natural diet, and if it is moldy it will kill them. So we specially dry it to keep them safe when they dont have access to fresh grass. Just like we dry tea for people. 2. That pony cant pull the cart can she? It would be too heavy! Carts have wheels and are labor saving devices. Same as you can carry much more weight in a wheelbarrow. My small child can easily pull me in a pony cart. 3. Does the pony like being with humans? Ask her yourself! Our animals choose to meet and greet because they love their human family. I have throughly enjoyed getting to answer questions. Each time the people seemed delighted and said they would love to come to the show. Education and face to face connection is the key. I am for sure going to try to do more education moving forward!
