Bomi, Assistant Project Manager for the St. Louis Mosaic Project, shopped with us to get the ingredients for Dak-bokkeum-tang, a very popular dish in Korea. The name literally translates into: chicken stir-fry stew. Bomi shares, "I have a fond memory of enjoying this hot and spicy stew after a long hike. We would order it and eat it while we are still in the nature. Gochujang is a very versatile sauce that is unique to Korean cuisine, and the spicy taste is very savory and addicting! I have been living in the United States over 10 years now, and it is one of my mom's dishes I miss the most."
We're thrilled to announce our Cultural Exploration Kits program! The program is a curated shopping experience designed for your kids to learn about countries from around the world through authentic international ingredients. Stop by our customer service desk to pick up a ‘Exploration Postcard’ which includes a list of specific products from countries from around the world as well as where to find the items in the aisles. To supplement the shopping experience, we have created short online videos that share how to cook with the items at home. Tag a friend below who would love to explore our store with these postcards!
Diversity is what makes America so delicious. This past month, we partnered with St. Louis Mosaic Project to shop with immigrant families in St. Louis and learn about what dishes they cook at home using ingredients from our store. We had the opportunity to browse the aisles with Bomi from South Korea, Ita from Brazil (see yesterday’s post) and Faiza from Kenya and hear about their favorite traditional recipes. Be sure to keep up with us over the next few weeks to get an inside look at their pantry picks and find the recipes for the final dishes!
