The Middle School track meet scheduled for today, Wednesday, April 7, has been cancelled due to impending weather.

The fire department was called today to address an issue with smoke in a high school classroom. The source turned out to be a wiring issue in an air conditioning unit. There were no injuries reported. The students and staff are commended on their actions during the situation.

Congratulations go out to Amie Merz and Gary Bohler. Last night they were elected to the Grandview R-II School BOard. They will take the Oath of Office at the next regular Board meeting April 15.

For those in Eagle Nation who are interested in a COVID-19 vaccine, the Jefferson County Health Department is having some Mass Vaccination Events at their new facility in the old SHOP 'n SAVE building in Festus throughout the month of April. Here is a message from Mr. Zoph about an event at Grandview tomorrow, April 1. Tomorrow April 1st, (this is not an April Fools Joke) the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department SWAT team and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Student Resource Officers from across the county will be on the Grandview campus from 3:30pm till approximately 7:30pm doing Active Shooter Training. Many school personnel will be participating in the training along with the Sheriff’s Department Of...ficers. I’m sending this out so everyone can remain calm when they see the campus full of police cars and officers doing mock trainings all over the campus. There is NO EMERGENCY and the Grandview campus will probably be the safest place in Jefferson County for around 4 hours. Eagle Nation: On Tuesday, November 3, Grandview will, as usual, help fill a need in the community and serve as an election voting site. Due to the projected high voter turnout and the subsequent increased risk of potential viral exposure, we will not have classes on campus. We will instead be having an Alternative Method of Instruction day. The state of Missouri allows schools to have five days where Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) are utilized without having to make them up on the school calendar. On November 3, and all AMI days in the future, all students will be in attendance through our virtual program and will follow the educational plan set forth by their teachers to the fullest extent possible. More information and responses to questions will be available through your individual building principals.

The Nursing Department at Grandview R-II has an exciting announcement! We are partnering with Hazel Health TeleHealth service. This means if you sign up with the link below and give consent, your child can see a doctor at school virtually through an iPad app. Once your child sees the virtual doctor, the school nurse will be able to provide over the counter medications as ordered by the physician like Benadryl, pain relievers, cough medicine, antacids, etc. If a prescription i...s needed, the tele-doc can have that sent immediately to your pharmacy of choice. The follow up care and discharge information will be sent to you via email, text message, or printed and sent home. All of this takes place without you having to set foot in your child’s pediatrician’s office! More information will be sent home with your child tomorrow. The Grandview R-II School District has openings for bus drivers and substitute bus drivers for the 2020-2021 school year. New drivers with the district can receive up to five (5) steps on the salary schedule for like work experience. This causes the base salary to range from $8,152.26 to $8,779.74 per year based, on this years salary schedule, with a benefits package that INCLUDES HEALTH INSURANCE. Extra trips may be available for additional compensation.
