Westbound I-70 on Lewis and Clark Viaduct reopens-- Westbound I-70 on the Lewis and Clark Viaduct in Kansas City, Ks. reopened last weekend, according to the Ka...nsas Department of Transportation. The westbound bridge replacement project was started in 2018 at an estimated cost of $65 million. The Lewis and Clark Viaduct on Interstate 70 connects Kansas City, Ks., and Kansas City, Mo. The original bridge carrying the westbound lanes was built in 1962. Deck work on the bridge will continue this spring, requiring some lane closures. KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a work zone. Drive safely and always wear your seat belt.

Please be aware that crews will CLOSE both directions of I-70 on the east side of Kansas City’s downtown loop beginning on Friday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. until ...approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, July 13 for pavement work. The closure will impact both eastbound and westbound traffic from approximately Admiral Blvd. to Paseo Blvd. and close all ramps in between. Motorists must find alternate routes during this time. Motorists traveling this direction on I-35 south should use the northern portion of the downtown loop. Travelers headed north on U.S. 71 should follow westbound I-670. Westbound I-70 travelers will also follow westbound I-670.
