Look at those little teeth! Many patients ask when the correct time is to bring your child to the dentist. My answer is always as soon as they have teeth! We offer happy visits for children under the age of 3 to get them acquainted with visiting the dentist. This is just a fun time to meet the kiddo and there is no charge! Post pics of your little’s adorable teeth in the comments!

This lovely lady maybe a new face to many of our patients at KDA. Bri took over for Kathy when she retired from her front desk position last Spring and she has been a wonderful addition. Bri is a trained dental assistant with two degrees in health sciences and business , so she seemed the perfect fit to help run our front desk. Her value was recognized immediately as our tech guru she is helping bring KDA up to date, as we transition to digital, which we would NOT have been... able to do without her!! Bri wears many hats including welcoming our patients, scheduling, managing phones, and helping with insurance and financing. We are so fortunate that she brings new ideas to the table of how we can better serve out patients and she has recently implemented an option for payment plans for those patients with large treatments needed. In the future, Bri will be implementing a new in-office insurance to help our uninsured patients. Bri keeps her clinical skills up by assisting in the back with implant surgeries, which take place on Fridays. When our office reopened in May, Bri took on the task of rescheduling many of our patients- some of them multiple times. Often the front desk of the dental office are the unsung heroes, but we sure do appreciate all she has done to keep our little office chugging along and make sure we are available to our patients as they need us. Bri and her fiancé Joe bought their first home last year and, if COVID allows it, plan fo marry in October! We are so fortunate to have this brilliant, kind, and ambitious lady on our team! Thank you, Bri!!

Many of you know this beautiful smile. Today we want to show our appreciation for Tammy Ivie Bailey. Tammy is our newest hygienist, but has been in hygiene since 1995. She is originally from Oregon, but has called the Ozarks home for 1.5 years as she began working at KDA. She says she really loves the Ozarks because of all of the outdoor activities available a short drive away. Tammy has two wonderful adult children. Her son works in automotive management and her daughter is... studying at UC Denver. If you have a fear of the needle, but need a cleaning that requires anesthetic, Tammy would be a great hygienist for you. She has specialized in offering treatments without the use of dental anesthetic. She takes her time and uses a gentle touch. Many patients have experienced completely painless deep cleanings (scaling and root planing) from Tammy’s skilled hands without numbing! When COVID 19 first began effecting the dental world, Tammy was quick to jump on board with the changes and even offered up new ideas to help keep the practice chugging along. We are so fortunate to have this vibrant and positive lady in our office. We appreciate you, Tammy!

Today we would like to take a moment to recognize One of our wonderful dental hygienists, Kelli Russell. For 7 years Kelli has created a comfortable space for her patients at KDA. We always joke that patients enjoy visiting Kelli’s Dental Spa, but her patients know that it’s no joke...it true! Kelli has a very calming personality, and her patients actually look forward to their visits with her. Very rarely does Kelli have a spot available for a last minute appointment, whic...h is a testament to how much her patients appreciate her service. Dental hygiene is a serious profession needed for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease, but Kelli somehow makes her patients feel relaxed and refreshed while carrying out this task. You can always hear laughter coming from Kelli’s room! Kelli’s talents don’t end in the dental office. She is a wonderful mother to her beautiful daughter Emerson, who is in nursing school at SBU. Kelli enjoys running, spending time with her family and pets, and relaxing at home. In the past weeks, our office has been facing many changes. Kelli has often been the first one to really jump in and learn the new systems. It has been an extreme challenge, yet she has juggled all of her responsibilities with grace. Every day Kelli comes to work with an attitude that she is going to learn something new. I truly admire that. We appreciate your dedication to our patients, their comfort, health, and happiness, Kelli! We are very fortunate to have you in the KDA family.

Today we would like to express our appreciation for our dental assistant of 16 years, Nancy Linn. If you’re a patient at KDA, you have surely heard Nancy’s infectious laugh in the hallways. Nancy says she got into dentistry because she wanted to help alleviate patient’s fears, which she does with a gentle touch and a joyful attitude. Nancy is an excellent dental assistant and has spent many hours in training for expanded functions, where she can show off her incredible artist...ic abilities. Nancy and her husband Scott have 3 German Shepherd fur-babies, and in her spare time, she makes beautiful art and enjoys participating in festivals where she can show off her hand-made purses and other creations. How lucky are we to have someone with such talent working to keep our patients’ smiles beautiful?! Nancy is not only talented but also incredibly hard-working and versatile. When COVID 19 first closed us down, Nancy was quick to volunteer to do whatever we needed to keep the office going. She has spent the past several weeks seeing patients, answering phones, scheduling, ordering, learning all the new stuff, and on and on! We can’t begin to thank you for your flexibility and willingness, Nancy. And all while keeping a smile on our patients faces. You make it look easy! We are so fortunate to have you on the team.

Often times patients can be nervous at dental appointments, but Tina’s gentle and kind demeanor immediately puts our patients at ease. Tina is an excellent dental assistant and has educated herself to include expanded functions such as fillings. A devoted daughter, Tina has spent many years caring for her mother. She enjo...ys spending time in nature, taking walks, and just relaxing at home with her adorable cat, Cash. Please join us in celebrating Tina today for her years of dedication, service, and care that she has given to our patients. We are so fortunate to have you on our team, Tina!! See more

Today we want to take a moment to recognize Angie Thaemert Parr. Angie has been working as a dental hygienist at KDA for 33 years! If you have been a patient at KDA, you know how valuable Angie is to our practice. Our patients love her gentle and caring nature so much that Angie’s schedule is typically booked out for months! In their nearly 34 year marriage, Angie and her husband Tim have raised two handsome sons and now also have a beautiful daughter-in-law in their family.... Many people don’t realize that hygienists are specialists in preventing and treating periodontal disease. We are grateful to Angie for many years working hard to keep the patients of KDA healthy and educated on the most recent preventative measures in dental health. During this recent COVID19 crisis, the changes and challenges to our hygiene department are too numerous to list, but Angie always keeps a cool head and a warm heart when treating our patients. From Angie: It was an honor to work with Dr. Frank's for 13 years and Dr. Perotka for 20. Looking forward to the future with Dr. Wilson! We are so honored to have YOU, Angie!!

The challenges of the past months have really given us a chance to have gratitude for those who have helped us through. The loyalty of our staff and patients is what has made KDA a success for over 40 years! Each day for the next week, we will highlight an employee. Of course it only makes sense to start with KDA’s longest serving employee, Alice Writer. Alice began working for KDA 38 years ago. You read that correctly- 38 years!! Alice and her husband Terry will celebrate th...eir 50th wedding anniversary next month. Together they have 2 children and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Alice worked every day during the COVID19 crisis. She arrived early each morning ready to call patients, reschedule, search for PPE, sanitize EVERYTHING, and on and on. Alice works tirelessly to make sure our patients know how special they are to us. Not only does she advocate for our patients to their insurance companies, but she is the one who always remembers to send our patients birthday, anniversary, sympathy, and thank you cards. To know Alice is to love her and we are beyond blessed to have her as part of the KDA family.
