TESTIMONY TUESDAY! Check out this awesome story about how our team helped this client with sensory and social emotional regulation. After an initial OT visit at Kidz First we learned about retained primitive reflexes. It felt like someone had given me all the answers to what we had been dealing with. Six months into OT services we started seeing small changes in my daughter’s behaviors, the hair pulling/thumb sucking were a little less frequent and her bald patches had hair!... A few months later I remember crying happy, thankful tears the day she put on socks and shoes without a single struggle. We spent a little over a year in OT services for retained primitive reflexes, by the end my daughter was wearing shoes she never would have been able to wear before. She no longer pulled her hair and sucked her thumb. Today her hair is down past the middle of her back and sensory battles with clothing are a thing of the past! See more

MEET KIMBERLY!! Welcome to the Kidz First team! We are so lucky to have YOU! My name is Kimberly Ladish, I have a passion for seeing kids overcome challenges and thrive in their unique giftings! I'm a mom of 2 kiddos under the age of 2 and am learning and growing everyday because of them. I graduated alongside Miss Kristin and Miss Rachel obtaining my degree and COTA license/certification, and have spent the last two years working with Miss Gabby and adults with disabilities. I also currently work as the Children's Director for a non-profit serving single parents, and am thrilled to now be working with your kids at Kidz First therapy! Can't wait to get to know you all!

We are so lucky at Kidz First to be able to work with some pretty awesome kids. Macyn is showing us all how we should enjoy the simple things in our lives and remember to laugh every chance we get.

Our first Testimony Tuesday story is below! Our skilled therapists are able to address a variety of fine motor, executive functioning, and academic needs. My son struggles with handwriting and reading. In Kindergarten the teachers started to have some concern about his motor skills and pencil grip. At the beginning of 1st grade, we decided to get an evaluation done at Kidz First. I loved that they immediately were thinking of solutions and strategies to help my child grow and... learn. They have built a relationship with him and he looks forward to coming every week. I feel like they are constantly working and creating solutions tailored to my child's needs. I feel like they are really invested in him and his future. I feel like I have someone in my corner who is supported me and him. His teacher said she saw so much improvement this year. I look forward to his continued growth at Kidz First Therapy. See more

MEET COLE!! Hi, my name is Cole Frakes and I recently graduated from MCCKC with my Occupational Therapy Assistant degree. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Pittsburg State University. I have lived in the Kansas City area my entire life, and am a huge fan of both the Chiefs and the Royals! I am soon to be married to my fiancé Kennedy and am extremely excited to start our adventure together. In my free time I enjoy playing slow pitch softball, indoor soccer, watching movies, and my absolute favorite thing to do is golf! I am very excited to be a part of such a great team here at Kidz First!

MEET ELLIE!! We are excited to have another amazing OT join our team! My name is Ellie and I recently graduated with my Doctorate in OT from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. I am new to the KC area, and I have lived all over the US and even lived in Europe twice. I love to travel in my free time (when it’s safe!) and I love to hike. When I’m not at Kidz First, you can find me petting any dog I meet, baking way too many baked goods, finding new fun treats at Trader Joe’s, and staying active by running, doing yoga, or walking. I’m a total book worm, absolutely love Harry Potter, and Christmas is the happiest time of the year! I’m so excited to be part of this Kidz First Fam :)

HERE WE GROW AGAIN!!!! Kidz First is looking for a PRN OT who wants to work in a dynamic growing outpatient facility. MEET LAUREN!! We are excited to welcome her to the Kidz First Family! Hi I am Lauren Meigs! I am a recent graduate of the University of Kansas Medical Center. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!! I graduated with a Master of Occupational Therapy Degree. I currently live on the Kansas side with my husband and fur baby Captain. When I am not working with our awesome kiddos at Kidz First Therapy, I enjoy reading books, taking naps, playing with my dog, and cooking/baking. I love watching football. My favorite team is the Indianapolis Colts, sorry KC people! My favorite kind of food is Mexican food. I LOVE Christmas and everything about the season!! Just wait to see all of my Christmas outfits. I also have a December birthday and like to celebrate it all month long! My favorite band is Train. Fun fact: I have seen them five times in concert!
