Started a new one late last week and excited about the possibilities! I’m hoping that I can still sneak off to the studio to paint during the stay at home order. . #paintanyway #workinprogress #workinprogressart #paintinginprogress #trekellartsupplies @trekell_art_supplies

I know many of us are stuck at home and feeling a little aimless right now. I’m hoping to help both you and myself by doing a live mini-lesson here on Facebook this Tuesday at 5pm (and probably every Tuesday until things start to get back to normal!) Thank you to InterUrban ArtHouse for working with me on this! You will see the feed live on their page and on my School of Realist Art page. This week I’m going over how to draw an eye realistically in charcoal. But, if you don’t... have charcoal, white charcoal, and toned paper, just a pencil and paper will work fine! Don’t worry if you don’t have the very same materials, just join in and enjoy. Each week will be something different and I am open to suggestions!! Let me know what you’d like to see and follow these guidelines: 1) It has to be related to drawing or painting realistically, since that is what I know. 2) It must be specific in subject. If the subject is, how to draw people that’s a little too broad for a short lesson, and I want it to be accessible to lots of people even if they have no drawing or painting experience. 3) It can’t require very specific materials. Again, I want people who don’t have a full set of oil paints sitting around to be able to participate. So while it can include color I want it to be doable even if all the person has available is a kid’s watercolor set. Ok, let me know if you have any requests and I hope you can participate! . #quarantineactivities #thingstodoathome #artlessonsonline #artlessonathome #learntodraw #draweyes

I have a little YouTube video up about how I improved this life drawing sketch after the model left. . I don’t usually post my drawings here because it interrupts all the colors of my paintings, but maybe I should post them more often. What do you think? I love figure drawing for sure, even when I don’t produce anything good. . #lifedrawing #schoolofrealistart #figuredrawingacademy #figuredrawing #charcoaldrawing #anatomyandart @ Lacey Lewis School of Realist Art

Yep it's Tuesday! A couple weeks ago I posted a thumbnail exercise, which is something I am really really into right now. This week I show you how I used that exercise to take a sketch done during a life drawing session to a finished drawing. https://youtu.be/6kAmoEsJ5iE

Hey everyone! Just 5 days until class begins and registration as a Founding Member closes. I wanted to write a little something here because *I know* that the $597 Founding Member rate is not cheap! But if you are invested in taking action and participating in the class, it's really a HUGE value. This rate includes the 16 lessons, a bunch of ongoing bonus lessons, feedback from me on all assignments that you complete and post, access to the community, and the ability to ask q...uestions for clarification and to have specific aspects covered in the course. This access is FOREVER!! (Or for as long as the online Academy exists, which I hope is my entire life.) When you compare that to the cost of just a 6 week in person class, or a semester at college, or heck even a weekend workshop, it's an amazing super deal. I am really excited to be pouring everything I know (and everything I continue to learn along the way) into the academy and I am confident that it will transform all who actively participate. I hope I have some of you participating for years to come! Finally, if you need a payment plan, contact me and I will see what I can do. Cheers!!

Hi everyone: I have talked about this course a little (but not enough!) and now it is finally open for registration! I have been hard at work developing the course and its contents and I really cannot wait to begin in JUST 2 WEEKS!!! This has really been a big accomplishment for me already: Besides the technical aspects of creating the course, I also had to get the guts to do it and put myself out there in this way, on video. YouTube has been my experimentation grounds and ...I have learned so much there, so I know this course is going to be the ISH! You can find all the details on my the website, and I will share more about it in upcoming posts. But for now, if you are a supporter of my work or you have taken my classes and found them helpful, will you help me boost the signal on this? You may have heard all about how social media suppresses posts, but also since there are naked people involved in this course I also cannot do any advertising. It would mean a lot to me if you could hit share, or even just hit that you are attending the event! There will be no pressure from me to buy the course, but if you hit "Going" then it may show up for your friends, and then more people will know about this class. Please and thank you and thank you again! It means so much to me the words of support I get from you all so often!
