De La Salle invites 8th grade students to participate in our special Shadow Visit Program for La Salle Middle to experience firsthand what it is like to be in High School. During a Shadow Visit, an 8th grader is paired with a Student Ambassador from their selected High School who serves as their student guide. They will attend classes, meet teachers and students, have lunch, and take a campus tour. We do our best to match a student up where they will be successful.

My name is Armond and I am a 2019 La Salle Middle School graduate and currently a Sophomore at Cardinal Ritter High School. I consider myself to be a A and B student, with my favorite subject to be Composition and Grammar. It’s the least frustrating class out of the eight I have on my schedule. I play basketball and am considering joining the football team again next year if everything goes back to normal. My transition from LSMS to Cardinal Ritter was fairly easy besides having to get up earlier and managing homework from all eight of my classes. CRCP is overall a great school. Teachers really want to see you succeed and help you get to where you need to be. They’re big on motivating us, especially now. After high school, I see myself playing sports or getting into the construction industry.

Each year on September 11, we honor our first responders with some thank you treats and letters from the students, including this one from one of our esteemed 8th graders. While this year was a bit different, we were still able to give a huge "Thank You!" Dear first responders, Thank you for how much help and the work you do for all communities: the fires you put out, the people you save. You have inspired me to be an EMT and to help people as well. You have shown me how impo...rtant it is to help people in need. Your work isn’t an easy job and is not for everybody, but every day you come to work not knowing if you will see the next. Thank you for all the work and time you put into saving lives. Thank you so much. Sincerely, Aiya A., 8th grade

Ms. Blair Stiles is new this year to La Salle. She is in her fifth year of teaching and has her Master's in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English from UMSL. Her certifications include high school and middle school ELA. Prior to La Salle, Ms. Stiles taught for Epstein Hebrew Academy in University City, MO and tutored elementary through high school students in ELA, writing, reading, and test prep. Fun Facts: Native to California, but St. Louis definitely feels like home. Not safe to eat french fries around. Aspires to vacation in Portugal.

Mrs. Howard is a proud mother of two grown children. This is her 15th year passionately teaching City of St Louis middle school students mathematics, and sometimes some other stuff. :-) When not parenting and mathing, she love St Louis Cardinal baseball and Green Bay Packer football, solving all kinds of puzzles (word, number, tabletop), reading non-fiction, cooking (and eating), travel, and learning about architecture, photography, and history.

The EnCompass Team continues to offer our high school students academic and financial support. Director, Tarri Strickland was able to chat with DE SMET High School freshman Sherod and his mom Sheronda about his transition into high school. Freshman year is the most challenging. He is still working hard to achieve his academic goals. This year he was a part of varsity football which earned him a state championship ring. He did make varsity for track this season but the season was cut short due to the COVID19 crisis. We wish him luck on the upcoming school year!

Juneteenth -- a blending of the words June and nineteenth -- is the oldest regular US celebration of the end of slavery. It commemorates June 19, 1865: the day that Union Army Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and told slaves of their emancipation. That day came more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. Happy Juneteenth!
