32 years in practice and still loving what I do. Started working with my father Dr. Philip Levens on 7-1-1988. Wowtime truly flies! You wouldn’t think there is anything new to learn but working on my third Master’s degree (this one all about cosmetics and beautiful smiles) and enjoying it so much. We hope all of you had a wonderful Father's Day weekend! Everything is going well since we reopened 6 weeks ago. We want to give you a few little updates to our procedures: The CDC no longer recommends that patients rinse with a hydrogen peroxide rinse prior to dental appointments so we have discontinued that practice at the office. They found it to be helpful as a bacteriocidal agent but it does not reduce the viral load in the mouth as they once thought. You can still... feel free to use products like Colgate Optic White and others with hydrogen peroxide as it really does help you keep your mouth cleaner and it is safe. Our new state-of-the-art sterilizer is amazing. We are, of course, testing it regularly and it has passed all tests to show it is killing all virus and bacterial forms (including tough to kill spores) and that it is reaching the correct heat and time requirements to ensure sterilization conditions. We use sterilizer bags that change color to show that the conditions have been met. The bags are not opened until patients are seated to ensure sterility for you. Although costs have continued to rise for personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, isolation gowns, face shields, etc...) availability seems to have improved for some of them. We have stock-piled everything we can because of the uncertainty in the marketplace. We are being told the next item that may go out of stock world-wide is examination gloves and so we have purchased a three-month supply to get through the Summer. All of our team has discussed that we feel safer at the office with our infection control processes than we do at any other public place. You can feel confident that we continue to take all of the best steps to protect your health. This is a message we are sending to our patients and their families prior to their scheduled appointments. We are posting here to give you a chance to read it at your convenience so that you know what to expect when we FINALLY are allowed to see you again: We have made some changes to our appointment arrival procedures to help ensure your safety: - Prior to leaving for your appointment please brush and floss thoroughly. Our Brushing Station is currently closed. - Rinse wit...h Colgate Peroxyl, Listerine, or Colgate Optic White Mouthwash prior to leaving to reduce oral germs. - Please arrive to the building 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so that we may perform a Wellness Check-up. - When you arrive please text our office at 314-300-0294. We will confirm receipt of your text, and we'll text you back when we are ready to see you. You may also call the office at 314-872-3218 to alert us of your arrival. Our Wellness Assistant will meet you at the front door of the building for your screening. - If you are driving a patient to their appointment please do not leave the parking lot during the appointment. For safety reasons, we do not want patients to wait to return to the car following their appointment. - Please wear your face mask into the building. - To maintain social distancing and minimize opportunities for infection to occur between people, we ask that patients come into the building alone (this does not apply for new patients, apprehensive younger children, or patients needing assistance). If another family member must be present, please limit it to one family member only. Our reception area has very limited seating to maintain social distancing. We will continue to update parents on treatment progress with a "report card" sent home with patients each appointment. As always you are welcome to call the office with questions or for updates and to schedule the next appointment. - Wellness Check-ups consist of a few health-related questions and taking of a touch-free temperature. This helps us to prevent anyone that may be contagious from entering the office and potentially infecting others. - Please let us know about broken brackets or other unusual issues prior to your appointment so that we may better assist you.
