LU Design Build 27.04.2021

When designing the metal framed mirrors at Lalo Salon, we decided to hold them off the wall to create some dimension to this long, linear space. The metal legs seem to run right through the countertops to the floor, which helps to ground the dark metal frames. : Karen Palmer - Photography

We just loved working on this project for Lalo Salon! In addition to reclaimed wood cabinets and shelving, we created a recessed wall niche with matching reclaimed wood cladding to hold hair products. This keeps the countertops much less cluttered. : Karen Palmer - Photography

When working on Lalo Salon's expansion, we wanted to use the same reclaimed wood they had in the existing space. We worked with the original fabricator, Reclaim Renew, to create the cabinetry, wall cladding and even the metal countertops and metal frames for the mirrors. : Karen Palmer - Photography

Lalo Salon had successfully grown to a point where they were busting at the seams. They needed to expand the space to accommodate more stylists and clients a well as a more functional makeup station. There were three main things that they wanted to improve on- the amount of counterspace, the amount of storage, and the quality of lighting. We loved working on this project and addressing the stylist's needs in a creative way. The space feels warm and inviting- just the space t...o pamper yourself! : Karen Palmer - Photography

We selected a sophisticated hexagon backsplash for the bar area in this remodel and fresh, modern details. This space, once closed off from the kitchen, provides a beautiful, sunny room perfect for entertaining. : Karen Palmer - Photography

For this remodel, our clients really wanted a style that withstood the test of time, but wanted it to be different than every other white, shaker style kitchen. We used dark blue cabinets at the island to really ground it and provide contrast to the other white cabinetry in the space. (Fun fact! The island is 186" long! It is definitely a showpiece!) We chose a shaker style cabinet with a bevel that added a modern twist to the traditional shaker style shape. : Karen Palmer - Photography

For this project, the kitchen was cut off from the back sunroom and as a result, the homeowners never used it or even knew what to do with it. We started by re-configuring some of the back hallway to allow us to open up the kitchen into the sunroom and create more functional space and better flow. As a result, this gorgeous natural light can now brighten the whole space! : Karen Palmer - Photography

By adding cabinetry and a small bench with hooks, this room now functions as a laundry room and mudroom. : Karen Palmer - Photography

This charming 77-year-old home in Glendale has so much character and many beautiful features. However, it was lacking a kitchen that functioned well and appealed to the homeowners' tastes. The room was cut off from the back sunroom and as a result, the homeowners never used it or even knew what to do with it. We opened up the space, created a more efficient single island and introduced beautiful, modern materials and colors. The homeowners love their new space and we had so much fun with this transformation! : Karen Palmer - Photography

Check out this Before & After: The existing laundry room was just a washer and dryer with no storage. Now the room is an extension of the rest of their home design, and also much more functional for them.

We went with brass plumbing fixtures, lighting, and hardware, which warm up the white cabinet and countertops on this project. Check out more: https://ludesignbuild.com//glendale-master-bath-and-laundry : Karen Palmer - Photography

More on this flooring... We used a fun black and white black patterned tile for the main part of the bathroom and used a white penny tile on the shower floor with dark gray grout. : Karen Palmer - Photography

#TBT It was such a wonderful challenge transforming this 125-year-old carriage house into a bright and cozy retreat. This gorgeous space includes a laundry room, master bedroom with a walk-in closet, dining area, living room and office, a modern bathroom and a gorgeous kitchen. We loved giving this historic building a new look and new life! : Karen Palmer - Photography

More on this project... The existing laundry room was bare bones - just a washer and dryer with no storage. The clients wanted to be an extension of the rest of their home design wise and also be much more functional for them. We added cabinetry and a small bench with hooks, which allows this room to both function as a laundry room and mudroom. We added wainscotting throughout the laundry space as well. ...
