We have a new pardner for our CVM online store, Tim and Terry’s Trading Post. A revamped website launched today, just in time for holiday shopping! https://cvmtradingpost.missouri.edu/ We are excited to be able to offer FREE shipping on items. Turnaround time for orders is also faster, and we are exploring additions to the available merchandise.... There will be a delay of a few weeks before new face coverings offering a more functional design and Yeti tumblers are available. Please keep in mind, proceeds from Trading Post sales support CVM student scholarships, so you are helping the college keep a veterinary education affordable while checking off the names on your nice list.

Hill's Pet Nutrition recognizes an outstanding veterinary technician each week on its Professional Veterinary Group Facebook page. We are thrilled that this wee...k, which is also National Veterinary Technician Week, #NVTW2020 Hill's has chosen to honor the MU VHC's own Matt Haight. This is what Hill's said about Matt: "For over 20 years, Matt has been teaching the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary technicians along with providing exceptional patient care and client advocacy as a small animal internal medicine technician at the University of Missouri. With patience and expertise, he imparts a wealth of knowledge and skill in his students, teaching them everything from the basics of compassionate restraint to the finer points of performing advanced procedures such as central line placement, bone marrow biopsy, and endoscopic retrieval techniques. Matt has also presented lectures at regional and national level and has contributed to several book chapters. For years he has directed the blood donor program at MU, facilitating pets helping pets and educating the veterinary and general community about blood banking. Along with his professional skills, Matt is a caring, warmhearted colleague who is the cornerstone of the MU Internal Medicine service. From all of us at Hill's, congratulations, Matt Haight, and thank you for your outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession!" Your VHC and CVM colleagues also offer their congratulations, Matt! See more

Couple honor uncle with support for shelter animals. #OurTimeToLead Animals throughout Missouri benefit every day from the medical services provided through the Veterinary Health Center’s Shelter Medicine Service. VHC faculty, staff and veterinary students: Provide preventive medicine services to mid-Missouri animal shelters Work with staff at shelters give every shelter animal the best future possible Spay and neuter more than 130 animals every month... Keep shelter animals healthy by providing vaccination, deworming and health exams Save lives by preventing disease outbreaks. During the Mizzou: Our Time to Lead campaign, Ken Donohew, an MU 1967 industrial engineering graduate, and his wife, Ellen Kippel, honored Donohew’s uncle, Paul Zollman, with a $310,000 gift to the Paul E. Zollman Fund for Shelter Medicine Program to support the service and its work. Zollman was a member of the CVM’s first class, graduating with a DVM degree in 1950. Paul Zollman was one of our first graduates, and I couldn’t be prouder that his nephew, Ken Donohew, honored his legacy through this gift to our shelter program, said Carolyn Henry, dean of the CVM. Every veterinary student completes a rotation in shelter medicine before graduation, this accounts for our graduates having performed 15 to 20 more surgeries than they did before the program started. The Shelter Medicine Program started in 2011, housed at the college’s Middlebush Farm, approximately 10 miles south of town. Thanks, in part, to the Donohew and Kippel gift, in 2019, it was moved to a renovated facility that is conveniently located next to the Central Missouri Humane Society shelter. From a physical standpoint, the new facility is much better suited to the mission of providing excellent patient care and student learning. The prep room, operating room, and recovery area are physically proximate to help move patients more efficiently and smoothly, as well as allow faculty to teach and supervise the care in each area. From a location standpoint, moving into town next to the CMHS dramatically increased the service’s ability to provide care. This freed the CMHS staff for other tasks, improved the opportunities for animals to be adopted, and increased learning opportunities for veterinary students. We are so grateful to Ken Donohew and Ellen Kippel. #OurTimeToLead See more
