In 1999, Marian Middle School was founded by seven religious communities with the mission of breaking the cycle of poverty, providing top notch education and supporting girls with limited means, but lots of potential. Part of the Marian experience is to ensure students are educated on the history of women and their accomplishments. For many Marian alumni, the recent election of Vice-President Kamala Harris has been a true inspiration, especially because she is a woman of color.
