#TrainingTuesday Thank you to Pearman Self Storage for hosting our K9 Teams for their weekly training day today! Every week, our K9 Teams work on their skills... to keep our handlers and their K9s ready to work! Today, K9 Tygo, Officer Gamble, K9 Cobra and Officer Harvey worked on scent work for narcotics and human odors and basic K9 obedience (heel, down, sit, lay down away from us, stay, etc). For the scent work training, the K9 handlers hide narcotics in the storage units and have the K9s sniff the outside of them. When a K9 locates a unit with narcotics, they are to sit down and stare at the unit to indicate to their handler that there is a presence of narcotics. For training with human odor, someone hides in the storage units and has the K9s search and sniff using their noses. They lay down and bark to indicate the presence of an individual.
