Did you know St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans is the oldest cathedral in North America? It was originally constructed in 1727, but caught fire in 1788 and was destroyed. In 1789 construction was started to rebuild the church, it wasn’t finished until 5 years later in December of 1794. Here it stands today overlooking Jackson Square.
