Did You Know? Piles of stacked stones known as ‘cairns’ were the earliest form of memorial art. These diligently stacked structures were typically about a foot tall (though some were much taller) and served multiple practical purposes throughout history, including discouraging grave robbers, marking trails, or marking the location of a buried item. However, some cultures built cairns for more sinister purposes, like preventing the dead from rising out of their graves.
This past October, Leader Publications wrote a piece on Rose Lawn Monuments discussing our response to the COVID-19 crisis, our dedication to our clients, and the key to our success. It's a great read, and provides a clear insight into our principles and why we do what we do. Check it out! https://www.myleaderpaper.com//article_e47b1836-1a36-11eb-
Around 3:00am Monday morning, 87 year-old Sidney Brown, a Crystal City resident, woke up to find his home completely engulfed in flames. Though his house was a complete loss, he was able to escape safely and is grateful to be alive and unharmed. Since the accident, Sidney has experienced an outpouring of generosity and kindness from members of the Crystal City and Festus communities who are eager to help him get back on his feet. If you would like to contribute in any way, his family has published a GoFundMe page for him here: https://gofund.me/de41382a
