Tom was a member for 69 years! He joined Rotary in 1951. That was before most of the Clubs in the District were founded. Also, before most members in the District were born.
How did Rotary Clubs handle the last pandemic. Interesting!

The pandemic hasn't slowed the Rotary Club of Kirksville! "We have been conducting hybrid meetings. We have a beautiful park named Rotary Park with an amazing amphitheater named after past RI president Ray Klinginsmith. When weather allows, we are meeting outside in the amphitheater. We have switched from buffet style lunch from Colton's Steakhouse to individual box lunches, but they are still tasty! When we have to meet indoors, we are meeting in our usual indoor location but maintain social distancing and also open doors to the outside to allow some ventilation. When we are also inside, we have access to WiFi and I have been showing our meetings via Facebook live on our Facebook page."
You're all quite aware that due to unforeseen circumstances (like a global pandemic) we weren't able to gather together for our annual celebration - the 2020 Shoes Roll Call. But that didn't stop Rotary District 6040 from conducting an amazing (and appropriately socially distanced!) Shoes Caravan! Take a look at this powerful Caravan recap/Shoes Roll Call video, hosted by our own Shoes Cheer Leader - Larry Lunsford! https://youtu.be/l5Ii83tXOXY

Congratulations to the Cameron club -which dedicated an ADA Veterans Fishing Deck with Ribbon Cutting at Cameron’s Sunrise on September 24th. Following months of construction, officials of the Rotary Club, City of Cameron, Chamber of Commerce and Park Board joined for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new, covered ADA compliant Fishing Dock. Cameron Public Works Director Drew Bontrager described the project as the centerpiece of Sunrise Lake. The fishing dock was conceived as a way to allow disabled veterans access to Sunrise Lake. #PeopleOfAction

To Club Presidents and Membership Chairs. This is a must watch TED talk. We have to change our tune. What we have been doing no longer works. Enjoy. This one will make you think!
Great community service!
Staying engaged and connected during the pandemic? The Weston Club is! Weston Rotary Club is meeting in person the first and third Fridays, and plans to get back to weekly meetings soon. The club recently took over as operator of the Weston Food Pantry (it was in a declining state, but food insecurity increasing) and are currently serving 20-25 school-based families with a weekly bag of supplemental food, 20 senior citizens with a monthly food supplement and handling community food insecurity needs as they arise (on a one-off basis). "It's a large undertaking for a smaller club; as we will run it from A-Z from fundraising to operations with no overhead involved. "
A polio-free world is possible. Find out five ways that you can take action for #WorldPolioDay on 24 October. https://on.rotary.org/2Ruyz1d
