The Saint Louis Philharmonic Orchestra will not be holding its annual Aspiring Soloist competition this year. The decision to forego this year's competition was extremely difficult, particularly given our deep commitment to supporting the incredibly talented young artists in the Saint Louis area. However, with the dangers inherent to the coronavirus pandemic, we were not certain we could hold the event with safe social distancing or provide a guarantee of the opportunity to perform with the full orchestra without jeopardizing the health and well being of our performers and audience. We anxiously look forward to a time when we can safely invite our local young artists to stand with the orchestra and make music together again!

The St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra is excited to announce our new Music Director - Darwin Aquino! Darwin is well-established within the St. Louis musical community. He teaches at both UMSL and Washington University, and is the music director of the Gateway Festival Orchestra. He is also a recognized composer and, to our delight, is composing a piece for the Philharmonic! We look forward to the energy, vision, and enthusiasm Darwin will bring to our orchestra and our audienc...e. To learn more about Darwin, please visit www.darwinaquino.com. The Philharmonic's own Kelly Austermann represented St. Louis by performing "Abblasen" for Sunday Morning's Rise and Shine! Beautiful work, Kelly!
