Our disinfectant fogging services include having a certified cleaning tech come out to operate our fogging system from start to finish, covering all needed surfaces. Afterward, once sanitized, common surfaces will then be wiped down with a gentle additional disinfectant to minimize moisture, and maximize bacteria eradication. As we approach the 1.5 year mark that signifies the time we’ve spent full time in this line of work, we have finally reached the point of being able to efficiently evaluate our long term track record for success over time. Given the recent societal events, we found it relevant to broach a topic today that has, in the past, left many individuals confused, misinformed, and unsure of how to proceed with everyday in-home cleaning. That topic is: Cleaning VS Disinfecting At first mention, they seem one in the same. However, they are in fact very different. ... Cleaning The removal of soil from a surface. Disinfecting The removal of germs/bacteria from a surface. The terms are often used interchangeably, as if synonyms for the same meaning, when this couldn’t be further from the truth. The truth, is that a majority of today’s popular cleaning agents actually do little to nothing to directly kill germs and bacteria. They are intended to break up things like dirt, grease, waste, and allow it to be removed from surfaces with ease. Q: Do some of the present germs and bacteria get wiped away when ‘cleaning’ - Yes, they do. About 60%. Just as cleaning agents don’t do much for the eradication of germs, most disinfectants do not have the ingredients necessary to break up and allow easy removal of dirt and grime. They are intended to kill germs and bacteria as their sole purpose, and are ill equipped to do much else. Q: Does a disinfectant clean at all in the sense that it removes soil from surfaces when sprayed and then wiped? - Yes, it does. About 40%. Now, in today’s market there are cleaning agents available that can and will do both. For example, a lot of bathroom cleaning agents are bleach based - and with bleach being one of the absolute best disinfectants out there - it’s definitely killing bacteria while cleaning in a bathroom setting. Far less general cleaning agents contain disinfectants, so when searching for these products keep this in mind, and read item descriptions and labels carefully. Some additional facts You CAN find agents that both clean, and disinfect. To properly clean AND disinfect, cleaning of a surface should be done first, followed but the use of a disinfectant. A simple and effective disinfectant is made as follows: half gallon of warm water, add 3 tbl spoons bleach, mix in spray bottle...ready for use! Make sure you’re disinfecting your appliance handles, door knobs, light switches, handle pulls, remotes, etc on a regular basis with a reliable disinfectant. It’s not difficult to complete the tasks necessary to keep your home and family clean and safe. And if you have the time and ability to do it yourself, focus on the following for optimal sanitation: Make sure you’re wiping down door knobs, light switches, cabinet/drawer pulls, appliance handles, toilet levers. Frequently missed but commonly used items: remotes, the top of pump soap bottles, sink knobs, coffee pot handle, etc. Make sure you allow your disinfectant agent to sit on surfaces for at least 30 seconds prior to wiping- this depletes more bacteria, and is all around more effective. Bathrooms = GLOVES. Wash your hand towels, dish cloths, kitchen towels, etc. Most people do not launder these often enough. There is no need to panic, or settle into a state of hysteria.
