Absolutely beautiful! SWT Design recently completed the total restoration and habitat enhancement of Lake Whetsel at Fort Zumwalt Park in O’Fallon, MO. The 3 acre lake features an accessible loop trail with boardwalks, fishing piers, picnic shelters and interpretive landscape. A key component was working with the city and the Missouri Department of Conservation to improve the fishery by removing silt, creating deep water pockets, fish habitat and silt forebay. We are excited about how the performative landscape is taking off and we look forward to seeing families take part in fishing or just enjoying the amazing ecology. #livingdesign #swtdesign #landscapearchitect #landscapearchitecture #landscapedesign #landscapedesigners

Ted made a visit to the Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS) over the weekend to see how the native Missouri landscape has developed. SWT Design has had the privilege of working with MICDS on projects that benefit the students outdoor learning experience. #livingdesign #outdoorlearning #education #school #landscapearchitects #landscapedesign #landscapearchitecture #landscapedesigners

Ted, Felipe and Klaus are attending this weeks 2020 Missouri Conservation Partners Roundtable. The theme is a New Era of Conservation: Exploring our Past, Present and Future. It is great to hear from Keynote Speaker Simon Roosevelt, the great, great grandson of Teddy Roosevelt. Learning from the past and looking to the future will be critical to updating federal policies to meet the needs of the economy while addressing climate change. It is amazing how we all embrace conservation in so many ways with bringing people outside during this moment in history. There is much hope and optimism by todays panelists for healing through nature!

SWT Design is thankful to be part of such a magnificent park! The new Forest Park Forever comfort station and plaza is a great meeting place for lunch and other park activities. The renovation of the old structure included the added plaza space with new stone walls, incorporation of native frog sculptures, social seating, bike parking, native landscape and the first charging station for personal devices. The renovation of the historic comfort station provides 4 season functionality, ADA accessibility, a future concession area and new entry trellis features. https://www.forestparkforever.org//city-of-st-louis-parks-

Paul had a great visit to see progress on the Playcosystem at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest south of Louisville. The Playcosystem, short for Play Ecosystem, is a large nature-based playground that will be a new major amenity, while also being a space for the teaching and testing of research-backed, best-practices in Play. It will showcase the work of Bernheim's Children at Play Network and really push how we think about quality play environments for children. It is... great to see how it is coming together! Looking forward to the opening next spring! https://lnkd.in/eE6NxE6 #swtdesignlou #playmatters #bernheimarboretum

Lance was invited to moderate "Place-making through Green Infrastructure" for the Plan It Native Landscapes Conference. Panelists Vladmir Krstic of the Kansas City Design Center and Lisa Treese of Kansas City Missouri Water Services shared opportunities in the East Bottoms and how this has played out on current GI projects in KCMO. Deep Roots KC did an amazing job pulling together their virtual conference this year. #kcmo #landscapearchitecture #nativeplants

This Friday, September 18th we will be participating in Park(ing) Day outside our St. Louis office with an outdoor working space. This year will look a little different from what we’ve created in the past, but we will still be upholding the values of Park(ing) Day by reimagining how an outdoor parking space can be transformed into a people-oriented space. We encourage anyone who’s interested to consider how public streets and parking spaces can become temporary parklets and dining spaces, especially adapting to COVID-19 precautions. Use and follow #ASLAParkingDay and #ReimagineStreets to share and see what participants and other cities create throughout the day!

The finishing touches have been put in place at the new Forest Park Forever picnic terrace and restroom renovation. The new terrace will provide a great meeting place for park and school group users who plan to visit the new Nature Playscape and the World's Fair Pavilion area. Ted Spaid along with sculptor Abraham Mohler and Demond Bolden installed the native American bullfrog and toad sculptures that will be great visitors to the new terrace.
