We have spent this week celebrating and thanking our entire staff for everything they do everyday to help the pets and pet parents of the St. Louis area. Anyone who has ever been to one of our hospitals knows that our team is full of rockstars and superheroes...livesavers! It's extremely difficult, sometimes heartbreaking, work but our team perserveres with love and enthusiasm for veterinary medicine! #vssstrong Thank you to our very own Dr. Abby Whiting for creating this video to show our world class staff in their natural habitat.

AN UPDATE for our clients: We hope you all have remained safe and healthy. Now that COVID cases appear to be stable/declining in the St. Louis metro area and the county is opening back up, we want to update everyone on the situation at VSS. On Monday, July 6, we will return to our normal hours of operation: Specialty/Referral Services Monday-Friday 9am- 5pm and Emergency Services 24/7. We will be reopening our VSS-West (O’Fallon, MO) location for both specialty and emergency ...services at that time as well. In our reopening plans, we continue to follow St. Louis County as well as CDC, OSHA and American Veterinary Medical Association guidelines for setting our policy. VSS sees cases from a multi-state region -- some that are current hot spots. In order to protect both you and our staff (and to adhere to county business guidelines), we will continue curbside service with only VSS personnel allowed inside the facilities. For cases referred to one of our specialists, your family veterinarian has sent us information about your pet, as well as your contact information. We will contact you to schedule an appointment -- you do not need to call us. As curbside uses more phone resources, we don’t want you to have to wait on hold an excessive amount of time. We are still prioritizing the emergent and urgent cases first, but are beginning to accept referrals for elective cases. With schedules in transition, it may still be several weeks before you receive a call to schedule your pet’s appointment if it is considered elective. Emergency veterinary hospitals across the nation have been at or over-capacity in the last month or so, and ours is no exception. We have always practiced triage, meaning pets will be seen in the order of urgency of their condition, not the order in which they arrived. Please be assured that every patient will receive the highest standard of care, but this may mean an extensive wait (several hours) if your pet’s condition is not life-threatening. Our team is doing the best they can to care for your furry family member expediently and we ask for your continued patience and kindness during this trying time. We will continue to monitor the situation in St. Louis and will update you with further changes. Thank you for trusting your family members to us!

Effective tomorrow, May 4, the bridge near our hospital ( located just west of Gaywood Drive on Howard George Drive) will be closed for repairs. At this time, the City of Manchester says these repairs could take up to 90 days. We are recommending that clients access our hospital from the Hwy. 141 side (Howard George exit).
