Gypsy Seeds Yoga 05.01.2021

I took my first yoga class in the spring of 2012, and I was hooked. Six months later I found my first teacher, Donna Heiple (Good Karma Yoga Studio, Michigan), and completed my 200-hr teacher training in Raja Yoga (Ashtanga and Jivamukti inspired). Shortly after, I moved to Belfast, Maine to experience sustainable farming; living with the land. I lived in Maine for two years, where I taught yoga and trained under Marianna Moll (Belfast Yoga Studio, Maine) in the practice of ...precision, Iyengar yoga. In the spring of 2015 I moved to New Zealand, where I lived at a yoga ashram and retreat center, Kawai Purapura. During my time at Kawai Purapura, I continued to teach and grow into my practice. My personal practice was enhanced spiritually and I was introduced to the practice of Vyayam Yoga. Six months later, I completed my 100-hr certification in Vyayam Yoga at Ganga Vatika in Rishikesh, India. In November 2017, I completed a 100-hour vipassana meditation, taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin in Indonesia. Most recently, August 2020, I completed a level 1 Kirtan Course with Mike Cohen, MA, founder of the Kirtan Leader Institute located in Boulder, Colorado. At present, I live and teach yoga in Kirksville, Missouri. I have conducted four 200-hr teacher training courses where I invite students to explore the possibilities of yoga and enhance their knowledge and understanding of yoga. I use a variety of techniques including food management, meditation, and asana (physical) practice to unfold the unlimited potential of the mind and soul (energy within). I am a wellness advocate for holistic health and have a Bachelor of Science degree from Truman State University. In 2015, I founded GypsySeeds with the mission of inspiring and educating people in their communities to reconnect with the gifts of nature by sharing the philosophies of yoga, permaculture and essential oils. My dream is to establish a wellness retreat. --> Link for bio https://www.gypsyseeds.org/amandas-yoga-bio.html

Welcome 2021! Gypsy Seeds Yoga is starting the new year with an exciting new beginning. I feel deeply honored to share with you that we found a location! Our very own studio, right here in Kirksville, Missouri. Coming soon, we will have a location announcement, opening date, class schedule and exciting collaborations to reveal. Reflective Story... **************** The new studio is a big leap into the unknown and it feels both exciting and scary. In Jaiya John’s words, You will never feel ready for the blessings that scare you most. Readiness has nothing to do with it. I share this because it has helped me recognize that blessings are something greater than logic or reason. Before making the final decision to take the big leap, I questioned, doubted, and told myself every reason why it wouldn’t work. Fear had me thinking It’s not the right time, I don’t feel ready, and all the what ifs you can think of. After several months of consistent practice and energy work, I understood that there is no such thing as the right time. The time is now. The universe doesn’t wait. It only responds to action. So, I am taking the big leap into the unknown. It doesn’t necessarily mean that all of my fears are gone. I am still scared, but when I feel fear, I look for the blessing alongside it and do my best to move forward with Universal love and support. **************** View monthly newsletter and subscribe here --> --> https://mailchi.mp/43f2cd1beb54/new-location-announcement See more

Gypsy Seeds Yoga envisions a healthy and happy lifestyle for people in their communities. We strive to inspire people to reconnect with themselves and explore an integrated approach to balanced living. Gypsy Seeds Yoga is grounded in the original meaning of the Sanskrit word Prakriti as nature, source everything is felt and experienced through the body, which is through nature. Prakriti is the creative energy where students unite with themselves through the body and move into a more natural state of being (i.e balanced, whole, happy). We offer a practice that cultivates love and happiness from within and in return, we plant seeds of happiness everywhere we go. Photo Credit: Elegant Reflections Photography

For the past couple of weeks, I have been reflecting on how the pandemic has changed my yoga practice. This year has been challenging for everyone on many levels and I share in the struggle that each of us is facing individually, as a family, and as a community. The year has been a time of transformation for many of us that has come with a lot of grief and resistance. In order to process my feelings, I have found myself returning to my yoga mat more and more each day, diving ...deeper into its sacredness. . . . Creating a consistent home yoga practice wasn’t easy for me, yet it was something I really wanted to do. I often found myself distracted by chores around the house, dogs barking, checking email, browsing social media, and the list goes on. Through this time, I have incorporated the traditional practices of pranayama (breath), asana (physical practice), and meditation to create space within my body and between my thoughts to find a sense of clarity and grounding. For me, the yoga tradition is a lifestyle and one of the lessons it has taught me is to work through challenges with more awareness and grace. By dedicating myself to a consistent practice, I have felt more anchored, emotionally resilient, physically strong, and inspired. . . . Yes, there may still be distractions throughout our practice, but life is full of distractions. The key is to slow down, take a breath, step into that space between your thoughts and bring your full presence and attention into whatever you are doing. . . Join me for weekly donation classes on Zoom. I am looking forward to starting a virtual yoga journey together and supporting you in any way I can. . . I will also be offering recorded sessions that can be viewed asynchronously. . . Live virtual yoga classes are donation based (Punch ca...rds are accepted. Please message me for the link). Recorded sessions are free. . . Private sessions are still available in-person. . . There is magic within and all around. The veils between the worlds are thinning, allowing us to connect with higher dimensions. Today is the day to feel inspired and look for gratitude and beauty...it’s there in the trees, in the sunlight, in a smile. Acknowledge your fears of the world, take a deep a breath and feel your feet on the ground. The light is brighter! ... Wishing you all a Magical and Happy Halloween weekend! See more

ENDINGS & BEGINNINGS Last week Take Root Cafe closed its doors. Saying goodbye has been challenging and emotional. I became associated with Take Root after I first moved back to Kirksville in 2017. I was looking for a community of like-minded people that was interested in healthy, sustainable living. I first found that community at Take Root and I began getting involved by working with Jessica to offer workshops on essential oils and home remedies in the 3rd floor space. Ov...er time my involvement with Take Root grew because of my belief in and support of the mission. Through the work of so many people, the 3rd floor officially became the Studio and Community Space. The Studio and Community Space was a place for community members to offer workshops and classes, hold group meetings, or host other events and activities. For me personally, that has included offering regular yoga classes and workshops. Those classes and workshops supported the Take Root mission by promoting whole-body health and wellness through physical activity and education. I will miss the space and I am forever grateful for all of the memories shared there. I will continue to offer weekly yoga classes while Gypsy Seeds Yoga is transitioning into finding a new home. Melody Jennings at Melody's School of Dance and Tumbling has kindly offered to share her beautiful studio space. The first yoga class at her studio will be on Saturday, October 24th from 8:30am-9:30am. The weekly class schedule is shown below: Tuesday - Beginner's Yoga - 11:00-12:00pm Friday - Slow Flow Yoga - 6:30-7:30pm Saturday - Fundamentals of Yoga - 8:30-9:30am Sunday - Slow Flow Yoga - 10:00-11:00am

This morning we gathered our 14 chickens and dropped them off to an Amish farm to be butchered. Raising these chickens with the intention of eating them was challenging on many levels, but I resonate with the belief that we should know where our food comes from and be conscious about eating that food, even if we were not a part of the final step. This was the first time raising our own chickens. For 7 weeks we watched them run, play, eat and grow. Although, I didn’t really bo...nd with them, it was still a struggle to send them off to be slaughtered. I value and mostly live a vegetarian diet but my body does feel good when I consume meat every now and then. So, a conscientious omnivore I am. So today, I shed some tears, give gratitude with all my heart and honor our chickens for the life they lived. I hope that sharing farm updates such as this may inspire us to live a more meditative lifestyle with an acute awareness of where our food comes from and how that food affects us as human beings. I hope we can unite to create a world in which the act of eating is treated as sacred.

I am honored to have shared this journey with 3 amazing souls. Yesterday, we completed the Path of a Yogi, 200-hr YTT course. Sharing the journey during this pandemic has been challenging, but also a powerful experience. Now more than ever, I totally believe in the interconnectedness of our spirits. I thank Isabel, Katie and Rachel for the opportunity to learn and grow from our shared experience that was unique to each of us. "In intention, mind and speech is the second Yama,... principle, called Satya. This is as much speaking and telling your own truth as it is to live and be your truth. It is to live and be your truth. It is to follow the path which your soul craves and to match your thoughts, speech and actions in order to vibrate on the highest frequency and vibration." (The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali) . . . Cedar Meadow Farms has a new addition! Say hello to our first beehive. This is all new folks! I know very little about bees and nothing (yet) about taking care of them. I have always been curious about bees and have always wanted to help conserve them and protect their habitat. From a yogis perspective, some believe that when you are curious about something it's the spirits way of saying "come on, this is the way"! So, here's to following curiosity and saving the bees! Thank you so much to my bee gurus, LaDonna Stauffer and Rod Belzer, for sharing your knowledge with me and helping me get started. ....and don't worry, I have a full bee suit coming soon! Yoga pants are not recommended for beekeeping.

http:// For over a thousand years, Balinese Hindu worshipers have been drawn to Pura Tirta Empul (Holy Water Temple), whose sacred springs are said to have been created by The God Indra and possess curative properties. This tradition still continues almost unchanged, and today, aside from worshipers, tourists from all over the world also come to this place to marvel at its beauty and bathe in its refreshing blessed water. // . . . This experience showed me the Balinese culture in ...a whole new light. It was such a joy to see them with their families doing a ritual that is so sacred to them. . . . We too gave an offering. We learned that our offering should be about two things: beauty and purpose. Our guide explained that the offering is made from bamboo and then filled with various flowers - the bamboo has many meanings and flowers represent the Gods - reminding us of beauty. . . . Before we did the ritual, we were asked to meditate on our prayer - Keeping beauty and purpose in mind. My prayer was a simple mantra: Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya Lead me from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, from death to immortality. . . . And in these truths I will always live in beauty and purpose.
