Even as the COVID19 pandemic rages on, our Pantry Volunteers provide groceries to hundreds of households three times a week. Right now, the Pantry needs your plastic or paper grocery bags. You can drop them off at the church during pantry hours, from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Fridays, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, or Sunday morning at 9:00 during Meals on Wheels preparation.
St. Paul's Music is delighted to present a new online concert series as a free gift to the community. When we were developing the concept of the series, it was important to acknowledge that Kansas City is an UNESCO designated jazz heritage city. We reached out to bassist Ben Harris to help with the first one. Ben and Kurt first play the spiritual, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands." The inspiration here is the great album of spirituals by bassist Charlie Haden and pianis...t Hank Jones. Ben has a great love of bowed bass playing, so there is an almost Ravel-like version of the Hoagy Carmichael tune "The Nearness of You" which let Ben show off his amazing bowing technique. The conclusion is the Henry Mancini classic, "The days of wine and roses." We hope you enjoy the music and share it with your friends. The videos will be released at 7pm on Tuesday nights with an upload to the churches YouTube channel on Wednesdays. See more

Thank you so much for joining us at St. Paul's Episcopal Church KCMO this morning. The prelude this morning is for 23rd Sunday after Pentecost. This morning's voluntary, Mehrstimmige Fantasie (many voiced fantasy) is a piece by Justin Heinrich Knecht (1752-1817). Knecht was an interesting composer/organist who was well known in his day. He was the first composer to complete J.S. Bach's unfinished Art of the Fugue, he wrote a Pastoral Symphony with a storm movement before Beet...hoven, but most of his music is in the "galant style" represented in this piece. Whether or not he is related to me is unclear. He was from a town barely 10 miles from where my family is from. My favorite part about him was that after many years of trying to get a court appointment in Stuttgart, he succeeded and subsequently quit two years later. He went back to his old job because he found the most meaning creating beautiful music for the local parish in his city. Be sure to refresh your feeds at 10am for the service. See more

This year’s Stewardship Ministry Team has helped us focus on the many blessings of care, joy, and abundance we discover all around us, sometimes in surprising ways. This week we are wondering about our vocation in the world. How does St. Paul’s proclaim the gospel in ways unique to our community?
Day 9: #SeasonOfPrayer May we all do the work You have given us to do.
